Ammunition and Guns Flying off the Shelves- A Vigilant America Awaits Legislation

The Second Amendment: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Two industries that are booming as a result of President Obama’s proposed policies, are the gun and ammunition industries. Hunting and recreation stores like Bass Pro Shop, cannot even keep bullets on the shelf. People have a real cause for concern, with recent talks in the Big Brother circle, taxes on ammunitions could reach astronomical figures, and the purchasing of certain weapons may be banned. From the UK Telegraph: "Since November, sales of firearms - in particular handguns and semi-automatic hunting and target rifles - are fast outpacing inventory," said Steve Sanetti, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the US firearms and ammunition industry. Demand for certain ammunition is also outstripping supply as enthusiasts build up stockpiles ahead of threatened tax increases on bullets. Industry watchers say the rush is also down to people taking up arms against the recession, anxious to defend themselves against rising crime driven by the economic gloom.” I digress to the introduction of this brief article, and the citing of the right to bear arms: Our constitutional right was not merely a precautionary measure of a bunch of paranoid revolutionaries, but a way to put a final check on the government- The power of the people to seize control, if it ever usurped its intended purpose— “… a government of the people, by the people, for the people.” It seems the rally of the Big Brother administration to usurp our constitutional rights is being met with healthy opposition from those good ol' freedom loving Americans.
