An Eventful Week in Bizzaro Liberal Land

Yesterday, which was what, December 12, 2009, the Associated Press reported, “Carlton Gary, known as the ‘Columbus Stocking Strangler’, has declined a special last meal before his execution.  The Georgia Department Corrections says in a statement that Gary will be served the same meal as other inmates before his execution: a grilled cheeseburger, oven-browned potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, cookies and a grape drink.”  You see, Gary is set to be put to death on Wednesday, December 16th, for being convicted of three murders in Columbus, GA in…nineteen daggum eighty-six!  If you are wondering, “Why is he called the Columbus Stocking Strangler?” it is because the three women (plus four others, but Gary was not convicted in those murders) were strangled to death with their own stockings.
So many things come to mind at once: the heinous acts took place in 1986, yet this guy is still with us in 2009; Gary’s regular run-of-the-mill meal is something that should be given to our homeless veterans, people struggling every single day to do the right thing and provide for their families, firefighters and police officers returning from a call…, NOT convicted felons; and, who really cares if this murderer wants or does not want a special meal?  Furthermore, why would he get one and whose bright idea was it to traverse hell’s half-acre in order to accommodate such heathens?
Also coming to mind are memories of the late Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti.  It was on this very day in 2003 that this fill in the blank was captured by American military personnel.  He was housed, given medical care, fed, clothed, permitted to bathe, allowed counsel and to meet with counsel and participate in his own defense, tried, convicted, afforded an appeal process, and then on December 30, 2006, his ass was hanged until dead a tad more than three years after being captured.  On three, ready, one, two, three, thank you President George W. Bush!  More on W later.
Something that comes to mind each and every time I read about a convicted felon being escorted off of this mortal coil at a set place on a set day and at a set time, is, how many of these guys claim to have “found Jesus” or be “saved” or “born again”, and say so right up until the curtain is drawn?  How many defense attorneys offer up as justification for criminal acts the predictable, “My client comes from a single-parent home”?  Get ready, here it comes…
Hey liberals!  You still lambaste Dan Quayle over his Murphy Brown comment.  You still bellow your patented “you can’t force your morality on me” song and dance.  You absolutely loooooove to falsely claim that legitimate Christians (not the Kennedys, Clintons, Sharptons, et.al.) are forbidden to mention “God” or “Jesus” in any vein, especially one that may turn one’s life around, because of a non-existent “separation of church and state” you claim is written in the US Constitution.  You people got all huffy over a prayer said in New York State that goes…or went, "Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and beg Thy blessings upon us, our teachers, and our country", so naturally, you sought your time honored remedy of judicial activism, and, on June 25, 1962, the US Supreme Court ruled on the matter of Engel v. Vitale, and started the cavalcade of violating the rights of Christians. 
By the way, you more than squealed when President (George W.) Bush asked for funding for his Faith-Based and Community Initiative via the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children & Families’ “Compassion Capital Fund”.  Let me spell it out for you: government needs to get out of the way and let the American people take care of, as best they can, the American people; who can do this better than communities and community organizations such as places of worship and places that recognize and follow the teachings of our Creator?  But no!  Our beloved lefties have to call the shots with minimal opposition from the citizenry.  So now we have more government programs that do not work but cost a lot of money, and me oh my, if you dare speak of cutting funding, look out.  I thought that if we have programs that work, then less funding will be needed…makes sense…doesn’t it?  All I can say is that something has to be done because the liberal elitists and Hollywood think tanks are running out of colors for their awareness ribbons.
Let me close with this – Tuesday, December 15th, is the anniversary of the enactment of the Bill of Rights.  It was 218 years ago that some right wing extremists on the no-ride a horse list ratified the first 10 Amendments of the US Constitution…and liberals have been trimming fat from it to fit their warped agenda ever since!  Free speech, right to assemble outside of a local Planned Parenthood in protest of the barbarism taking place inside…no more.  If you want to do that, stand 50, 100 feet away.  However, if union hacks want to block entrances to legal businesses and act all thug-like, go ahead, it’s free speech, freedom of assembly, and a new one called “freedom of expression”.  So much for the Fourteenth Amendment’s guarantee of equal protection.  Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, ooooooh, they must be silenced.  Arianna Huffington said that Beck is akin to the shouting fire in a crowded theater provision.  However, Bill Maher, Alec Baldwin, Keith Olbermann…say what you want when you want because you have the right to free speech.  That thing known as the Second Amendment, hah!  If you are on the no-fly list, you cannot own a firearm.  This is what the federal government pontificates.  So four-year-old Edward Allen and five-year-old Sam Adams, you can never ever own a gun.  What is next?
As you commemorate this week’s events, ask yourself, “Where are we?  Where were we?  How in the name of sweet crap did we get here?  What are we going to do about it?”
