A Lesson in Leftist Hypocrisy
Last night we were treated to The President of the United States, addressing a Joint Session of Congress, and repeating all the same lies he and his party have been repeating about Health Care Reform (or is it Health Insurance Reform, I’m losing track). The only thing “new” was that the President finally acknowledged the need for Tort Reform, although it won’t be part of this “plan” he referred to over and over again last night. Where is this plan? Anyone know? I haven’t seen it.
The highlight, or low point depending on who you ask, came during a part in the speech where the President attempted to correct disinformation that was being spread about Democrat proposals. In what anyone with a hint of intelligence could see was a direct attack on Sarah Palin, the President called the “death panels” claim a lie. His words “A lie, plain and simple”. The POTUS, on national television, called someone a liar during a speech to a Joint Session of Congress. As soon as he said the L word I knew the President had stepped in it. The speech was already a very partisan, very campaign-like speech to begin with. But calling someone a liar took it to a whole new level.
He then went on to “correct” a few more “lies” about the Democrat proposals and one of those was the claim that the bills currently before Congress would cover illegal aliens. The President alleged that this was false and one Congressman, Joe Wilson (R-SC), yelled out “YOU LIE!”. GASP!! Oh no! The looks on the faces of Obama, Biden, and Pelosi would lead you to believe someone had just dropped trow and mooned the President. How dare someone sit and listen to a speech filled with lies and half-truths, with the President calling his opposition liars, and not hold his tongue when the President was still in the middle of lying?? Give me a break. Joe Wilson said what millions of Americans were already thinking while they watched at home. Joe Wilson has since apologized for his outburst. But it isn’t over.
The internet is buzzing about Joe Wilson, not Obama’s speech, and people are calling for his resignation. Are you kidding me? For telling the truth? Okay, it may not have been proper or civil to speak out in that venue. Okay, he was wrong to interrupt the speech filled with lies at that very moment. But should he resign?
The people calling for his resignation are the very same people who cheered when George W. Bush had a shoe thrown at him during a press conference in Iraq. The people calling for his resignation haven’t made a peep about Charlie Rangel and his “under reporting” of over half a million dollars in assets. Charlie Rangel is still the Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee and Joe Wilson should resign for a momentary lapse in judgement about WHEN to tell the TRUTH??
These very same people probably cheered when Democrats heckled Bush during the State of The Union address back in 2005. I don’t remember them asking for the Democrats to resign.
No, friends, this is just the latest example of the left’s hypocrisy and the cult they’ve built around the current President. These people are out of control.
